I am so excited, I just had to add an extra two exclamation points there, did ya notice? Anyway, welcome to my new humble abode. I have not quite settled on my theme yet, but I figured this one would work in the interim. I have missed blogging, so I’m not waiting any longer.
If you are one of my dedicated readers from my old blog, Nonfiction Lover, then thank you for making the switch and coming along with me to my new blog. I appreciate that more than I can say. I blogged with Today from May of 2008 until just last week, so I was sad to leave my old home, but sometimes good things can come from change, and I believe that this new site is going to be one of those good things in my life.
There are other former Today.com bloggers out there (some of you left voluntarily, some of you did not) and so I tried to add as many as I know of to my blogroll. If you have also left Today.com but you are not included in my blogroll, please either contact me or leave a comment below. And to anyone currently in my blogroll – if you want me to change the title that I gave your blog to something that will help you out better in terms of SEO, please just tell me and I would be more than happy to make the change.
I have already set up a page with the different options I offer to subscribe to my blog, so check that out if you want updates from my site.
Thanks, and I’ll be back soon with my first “official” post!

Great minds think alike! This theme was the first one I used before deciding which one I liked best.
Wow Amy – congrats on being the first one to comment on my new site!
Isn’t the new blog smell just terrific?
Congrats on the move!
btw, I already sent some linky love your way, from my Life After Work blog.
I’ve added you to my Google Reader, btw, while I figure out how to keep track of all the blogs I want to read!
Cheers,
*lynne*
Nice to see you I am moving my blog as well. I wanted to leave peacefully. I love the new site.
It’s me again! I’m still working on getting things set up but I finally decided on a domain name. I added you to my blogroll and I am working on adding all the former Todayers now.
My new address is http://www.allaboutbipolar.com.
Fantastic new look, great job on this
Nice blog Hava! Very professional looking. I look forward to your continuing adventures.
Sari
Nice – now you just need to get this site ranked and start monetizing it. Great thing about not relying on Today’s hosting is that you can earn a hell of a lot more with your own Adsense/whatever than the peanuts Today is paying for traffic.
I’d recommend that you keep your Today blog open and post there occasionally for the link juice it provides though – Google in particular gives Today.com a ton of link authority right now for some reason. It never hurts to have more than one site on the same subject that you can use as a link network.
By the way, I’m not actually THE Susan Boyle if you were wondering – Just some guy that you’ve never heard of who found Today.com through Grizz and somehow managed to follow you here from your SEO posts on the forums there. Anyway, I hope this works out well for you!

Havs! So nice to see your new digs! The site looks great! I left Today over a month ago, although I’m not sure they’ve noticed
.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone for your nice comments – they are much appreciated!!! I am off to go to work at the library but hopefully I’ll be able to come back later tonight and respond to each of you individually. It’s going to be a CRAZY busy day in Hava Land! LOL!
Havs
Looks great, Hava! Thanks for the link. I’ll update what I can this weekend…
Good on you for getting right back up on the horse so quickly! Looking forward to more great blogging from you.
Hi Havs! In response to your comment on my blog, yep, I did work with you on the failed project with Anne and Joel. It was great while you were managing the blogs, but once you quit that, it went to heck quickly. I never even got paid for the last month of blogging there, even though I emailed Anne about it several times. Live and learn. Eventually anyway. Now that it’s happened to us twice, maybe some good things will come our way. The strong will survive!
Hey Hava! It’s me from Caregiving Daughter. Good luck with your new blog, it’s looking great!
Hey girlie!
The new digs look great. Once I get a blogroll going on my new site then I’ll make sure to link you there. In the meantime, I’ll be adding the link love from Your Dark Passenger. Probably just as well since the new site is ranked a big fat 0…For now.
Thanks for linking the vamp blog. I didn’t know you were doing that until I checked my stats and saw some peeps trickle over to Jen’s super creepy paranormal vampire blog. (I love that you called it that, btw.) Very, very nice of you.
Can’t wait to read more – even if I am bummed that you don’t review fiction and I happen to have quite a bit. Who knows? Maybe you’ll convert me to a nonfiction lover yet.
Jen
Lynne >> Thanks for the linky love. All is much appreciated.
Carrie >> I saw your post on the other thread – congrats on at least getting your new blog chosen and up. I just changed my link in my sidebar to redirect to your new blog. I saw that you purchased your blogs – you’re better than I am! I didn’t buy anything. I am just going to rewrite the more popular posts and call it good. Good luck on your new site – I have helped people set up blogspot blogs before, so if you run into any problems, feel free to email me and I’ll see if I can help you.
Amy >> I told you elsewhere, but I wanted to say here that I love the URL you chose for your new site. And, your site is in my sidebar!
Joanne >> Thanks.
I just finished putting together a couple of headers that are going to rotate through, and have quite a few more pictures to do more headers with, so that’s pretty cool. I absolutely adore this theme! I cannot believe all of the options that come with it! There is a lot I am still going to change, but one thing at a time.
Sari >> Thanks, and thanks for the email too. I am desperately behind here and trying to play catch up, but hopefully I get there someday. It’s just fun to have my own blog to be able to do my own thing with. I am liking my freedom!
Susan Boyle >> Or should I call you #2 Adam?
Thanks for being so dedicated and making your way all the way over here from Grizz’s site. I really wish that Today would allow me to post a “goodbye” post on my old site so that more could find me, but they absolutely will not go for it, so I won’t even try.
I am very excited about going my own way with this. I was making more than most people at Today ($2.50 a post plus traffic) but if I do this right, I can make a lot more than that from this site. We shall see if I succeed.
Andrea >> Hey girl! I think so many people are leaving right now, they are probably completely overwhelmed. You are just another number in their system. That’s what got to me – the fact that when they cut my pay to practically nothing, they didn’t even take the time to write a personalized email telling me why. It was just wham! And my pay is gone. Like a factory or something. After all of the love and hard work that I put into my own site, and in helping Today.com as a whole, that was a slap in the face to me.
I will go add your new site to my blogroll. I will also email you some threads that are popping up around the ‘net of people leaving – you can tell these bloggers that you left Today, and they will add you to their blogrolls also, which will help in SEO. So watch for that email from me.
Jennifer >> Thanks. I appreciate that. I know that many links can’t be updated because Today locks the posts, but any that you can change, I’d love ya forever.
I also don’t have any of my old posts up over here yet, so I guess you probably can’t edit your links to those either. :-/ Hopefully that’ll happen soon.
Farmer >> Thanks for stopping by. I found a book yesterday at the library about composting, and I thought of you and thought I’d email you about it. That’ll have to be later though, but watch for that.
Beth >> I thought it was you, but then I thought, “I’m going to look like an idiot if it isn’t her!” LOL! I really am so very sorry that she did not pay you. I know Violette did not get paid either. I’m guessing that no one did. ??? Retards. I quit for a lot of reasons, but that was probably the biggest one. I cannot STAND employers who do not pay on time and are constantly giving excuses as to why they didn’t do what they said they were going to do, when they said they were going to do it. Just pay the money. That is what you do, so do it.
Anyway, I guess we did live and learn. I have learned not to depend on a company to do what I want to do. This new blog is self-hosted for a reason. I’m not putting up with any more jerking around. The only person who can mess with this blog now is my brother who is kindly hosting it for free on his server, and if he starts messing around with it, then I have a bigger problem than just this blog.
Sherri >> Thanks! Don’t you have a new blog? I didn’t see it in the URL section. If you post that for me, I will gladly add it to my blogroll.
Jen >> Hey girlfriend! I know you have other blogs too, outside of Today, right? Why don’t you post here or email me the list of all of the blogs that you have, and the phrases you want me to use when linking to them, and I will add all of them to my sidebar.
And I will TOTALLY convert you into a nonfiction lover, bwahahahaha!!!! (Hey, I’m working on my evil cackle. Don’t laugh at me, I’m scary, I promise!)
Havs
Oh goodie. You’re finally up and running. I’ve been checking in every other day or so to see. Yeah, I know I could have just signed up for the e-mail but that would have been too easy.
And what would have been the fun in that?! LOL! I’m glad that you found your way over here. Very cool.
I was glad to see your posts pop up on my Google Reader and to see you’re up and running. And I absolutely love the new header!
Oh thank you! I put together several of them, and will be working on some more. I just love pictures of comfy chairs, old books, cool staircases, and beautiful libraries. So I figured I’d throw together some headers using all of these fun pictures. I will put up a post explaining how I did – it’s actually stunningly easy, believe it or not!
There is also a hack I can do where the header will rotate through automatically every X amount of seconds, and I’m going to see if I can get my tech on and figure that out. Wish me luck!
Havs
Hurray! It’s here! I’ve been checking regularly too, though clearly not as often this week. I know about being busy too, ha!
This theme reminds me of the one I picked, one of WordPress’s newer ones: Ahatualpa. I’ve seen it on several blogs now, and while you can tell it’s the same underlying theme, none of the blogs look the same. (Unlike Today’s blogs, ha!)
Ahem. Anyway, it’s so deeply customizable that I love it madly. So if you’re still looking around, I recommend it highly.
Or is that what this theme is? The more I look at it, the more I think it is, even though I don’t see the actual name at the bottom of the page. If so — then hurray!
Yup, you figured out my secret!
This theme absolutely ROCKS!!!!!! I am in love with it, can I just tell you that? The author has put together over 200 options for this theme – it is by far the most customizable AND easy to use theme I have ever come across. Plus it is SEO optimized! I honestly cannot come up with a single bad thing about this theme. I am still working on all of the options, and the end result (when I’m done tinkering) will be different than what I have right now, but one thing at a time. I really ought to concentrate on that instead of putting together new headers, but I’m just having so much fun making headers! LOL!
And you know what? I’m not sure why my footer looks different than yours. I didn’t edit it, so…::shrug:: But yeah, yours has the name in the footer while mine does not. ??? Couldn’t tell ya.
Hava
I think I spent about 5 hours tweaking mine when I first got it. You tweak the thickness of a line, view the blog, think, “No, it needs to be about 3 pixels thicker,” tweak again. Hunt for exactly the right colour code for the post headings…set this, tweak that. Such fun!
I remember when I was first considering it, I thought it might be too complicated for me. But boy — all the things you can do with it! I wouldn’t trade it for anything now.
Just wanted to stop in & see the new place! Congrats on the big move
